Whether it is the crowded ancient temples in Kathmandu or the roof of the world in Tibet and the lush valleys of Bhutan, each of them gives a different experience of the heart of the Himalayas.
You will explore the old palaces and lively markets in Nepal looking at snow-capped mountains. The tour begins with the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu and proceeds to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara where the Annapurna range spins around the Phewa Lake. Each second makes you feel the heritage and beauty of Nepal.
The border to Tibet opens a new dimension of the journey, both physically and spiritually. You stand in front of the grand Potala Palace in Lhasa and walk through holy monasteries where a group of chanting monks continuing the centuries old traditions of Buddhism. The Tibetan plateau is a highland that invites you with the expansive sceneries and a deep picture of calmness.
During this Nepal Bhutan and Tibet tours experience, you will be driving through scenic mountain passes and turquoise lakes that summarize the Tibetan name as the Roof of the World. And lastly, there is a flight journey of a short distance to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Here, time seems to slow down. You visit silent monasteries and mighty dzong fortresses against a background of emerald green hills.
The tour comes to an end with a hike to the famous Tiger Nest Monastery which is located on cliff gives you with a powerful sense of peace and breathtaking scenery. In Bhutan, you will see how tradition is still part of daily life with prayer flags fluttering on mountain ridges, and crimson-robed monks in mountain monasteries. This is a complete Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour that fits those who are not only in need of adventure but also cultural immersion.
Every day is a mix of sightseeing and real experiences – a smile with locals, enjoying traditional foods, and experiencing a Himalayan sunrise silently. You can experience the beauty of three different cultures with comfort and professional tour guides to guide you through the journey. Prepare to make lifetime memories in Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan on this amazing adventure.
This Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour has a moderate difficulty rating. It is not a physically demanding trekking journey, though tourists must expect some physical challenges and elevation. The trip is mostly sightseeing and walking around, the only serious activity being the day long hike to Tiger Nests Monastery in Bhutan.
The Tibetan overland route takes an altitude of about 3,600m or more, and this can make breathing difficult. But the itinerary gives time to get used to it slowly. Altogether, the trip can be pleasant even to people with a moderate fitness level as long as they go slowly and stay hydrated.
In the case of Nepal Bhutan and Tibet tours, the most suitable seasons are spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). The weather of these months is also mild with clear skies and mountain views are excellent. Nepal is warm during the days and cool during the nights and there are usually colorful festivals in the fall and the spring.
These are the most pleasant seasons to have in the Tibetan plateau, summer may be rainy, and winter may be cold on the high passes. The valleys of Bhutan bloom in spring and have a fresh breeze in autumn. Traveling during the spring or autumn months also offers pleasant temperatures, beautiful scenes and vibrant cultural experiences during the entire tour.
A Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour offers a delicious introduction to Himalayan cuisines. In Nepal it is possible to enjoy dal bhat (rice and lentils), momos (dumplings) and other tasty curries and stir-fries. Kathmandu and Pokhara are also full of international restaurants to satisfy every taste.
On the other side of the border in Tibet, you can enjoy hearty noodle soups, yak cheese and the salty buttery tea that is hugely popular among locals. The Bhutanese cuisine includes red rice, thick stews, and the spicy bite of ema datshi (chili cheese). All through your trip, use bottled or purified water and avoid excess alcohol to keep you hydrated at high altitudes.
The tour involves altitude levels in parts, and it is worth knowing about altitude sickness. You will travel and sleep somewhere above 3500 meters (around 12,000 feet) in Tibet. Some of the travelers might experience shortness of breath, headache, or fatigue due to the thin air. The only way of reducing these effects is to take it slow and give your body time to adapt.
Keep hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the initial days at the high altitude, and make sure to inform your guide in case of discomfort. Guides also have first aid kits, and vehicles have oxygen in case of emergency. Most visitors manage the altitude well with appropriate care on the Nepal Bhutan and Tibet tours.
This tour does not require you to be an athlete but a bit of preparation can go a long way. Before traveling, do some light cardio exercises such as walking, cycling or using stairs to develop stamina. Practice walking in the shoes you will wear on the trip.
It is also a good idea to do gradual increments where you can, because you’ll have a few hills to climb like the Tiger Nests trail. Bring the right clothes: good shoes, the layered clothing for warm days and cool mornings/evenings depending on the weather, and personal medication. By being reasonably fit and prepared, you’ll find the Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour smooth and enjoyable from start to end.
When planning on three countries, you will deal with multiple visas and permits, yet our company will take care of it. Most nationalities have visas on arrival in Nepal (you can get yours at Kathmandu airport at a fee). Carry USD cash and a passport photo for this. A special Tibet Travel Permit and Chinese group visa are needed in Tibet (which is a part of China).
In Tibet you cannot go on your own and these documents are organized in advance by the company. Border rules and overland entry via Kyirong can change due to road/bridge conditions and Chinese regulations. If required, we arrange an alternative routing or Kathmandu–Lhasa flight.
Bhutan currently charges a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 100 per adult per night (USD 50 for ages 6–11; under 6 free) plus a onetime USD 40 visa fee. These are arranged in advance with your booking. Check that your passport expires at least six months after the trip.
All three countries on the Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour are generally safe for travelers, though standard precautions still apply. Watch your things in places such as Kathmandu and Thimphu. Petty theft is not common but may occur in the busy places. You will have experienced guides that accompany and put your safety in the first place during the tour.
To be healthy, be sure that you are vaccinated where required, or have personal medication in case of minor illnesses. Wash hands before eating and use well-cooked food. In case of any health complications, notify your guide in good time. In large towns, medical facilities can be accessed in case of necessity.
This tour combines air travel and road transportation. You will be flying locally in Kathmandu to Pokhara by air and exploring Nepal by private vehicle. The overland trip to Tibet requires a lengthy drive of Kathmandu to the border, and then in a sightseeing vehicle across the Tibetan Plateau. The Tibetan roads may be rough but will be amazing to take through. (Please note that the Nepal-Tibet land border (Kyirong/Gyirong) can sometimes have restricted access or temporary closures, so routing and timing may change; if needed we will reroute or use flights.)
In Bhutan, there will be a personal car and driver, including the transfer at the Paro Airport to the rest of the movements. In the course of the tour, our group takes care of all the movement of your safety and comfort, and you need only to sit back and watch the scenery.
Although the typical version of the trip starts in Nepal and finishes in Bhutan, a multi-country trip can be organized differently. Other tourists will set out at Bhutan or Tibet. As an example, you could start with Bhutan and later to Nepal and Tibet. You can also fly Kathmandu to Lhasa (avoiding the long overland journey) which save a bit of time subject to current flight schedules and Tibet entry rules.
If you have additional days, consider adding to your trip- maybe add a brief hiking trip in Nepal or more cultural sightseeing in Bhutan. This is a flexible tour and our companies can easily modify it to fit your schedule and interests.
Most of the large expenses (hotels, guided activities, transportation, and some meals) are generally included in the tour package, although you will have to budget on the personal expenses. You may need to buy your own lunch and dinner in Nepal and Tibet, so budget to cover meal costs. Similarly you will buy drinks, snacks and bottled water on the way.
Other expenses may be visa fees per country, tips to guides and drivers, souvenirs and any other activities or upgrades. The ATM is accessible in city, and it is easy to exchange US dollars in the three countries. Most travelers budget about USD 20–40 per person per day in cash for meals, drinks, tips, and souvenirs in Nepal and Tibet (Bhutan is more all inclusive, so you will spend less there).
The language used on this tour is mainly English, whereby all guides speak the English language and most hotel and restaurant staff speak English. Nepali is used in Nepal, Tibetan (and Mandarin Chinese) in Tibet, and Dzongkha in Bhutan however you do not need to know these languages in order to get by.
One can make a pleasant greeting and be respectful by learning some simple greetings, such as Namaste (Nepal), Tashi Delek (often used in Tibet), or Kuzuzangpo (hi in Bhutan). The guides will assist with the communication with locals as well. Overall, language is not a barrier on a Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour, and friendly smiles go a long way everywhere.
In the majority of locations, it is possible to remain connected, but speeds also depend on location. Wi-Fi is easily found in hotels in the cities of Nepal, Thimphu and Paro (Bhutan). Wi-Fi is available in major Tibetan hotels, although it may be slow. In all three countries, mobile phone coverage is high in the urban regions and you may purchase a local SIM card in Nepal or Bhutan to access data.
In distant areas of Tibet or country Bhutan, there will be little or no signal. All the hotels are electrically powered to charge devices at night so remember to carry a universal travel charger since the plugs in the countries are not the same.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we shall receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our representative will receive you with a smiling face and will take you safely to your hotel in the city. Once you have checked in, you may have your time to relax and rest after a long flight.
In case you are not tired, we will take a little orientation tour of the vibrant place of Thamel, where there is a rainbow of shopping, prayer flags, cafes, and happy street scenes. It is the ideal experience of having a glimpse of the Nepal culture. During the evening you can have a typical Nepali dinner with dal bhat and local tastes. We will help with suggestions to make your evening out enjoyable and stress free.

We welcome photography during your Nepal Bhutan Tibet Tour, but we will always respect local rules and traditions. In most outdoor places you are free to take up photos but we will remind you to seek permission before taking close-up photos of local people, especially monks or elderly residents, inaccessible to monks or older people. Photography is usually prohibited in temples and monasteries, like in Jokhang Temple, Tibet or in the Tiger Nest, Bhutan.
We will take you through things in a friendly and excellent manner per location. They are always welcome to make photos outside these holy structures or beautiful scenery surrounding these structures. Drones are not widely used in this trip. In Nepal, drones are regulated and often require permits, especially near towns or airports. We will advise what is allowed before you fly. In Tibet (China), drones need permission by the government and are normally not allowed among tourists.
Bhutan has a full ban on drone flights to tourists to preserve privacy and sacred heritages. You will have millions of opportunities to take beautiful shots of the mountains, monasteries, and the life in the town even without drones. We will make sure to have you take pictures in a respectable and safe manner and keep the peaceful essence of every destination.

Tshechu festival in Bhutan, like Paro and Thimphu Tshechu, have colorful mask dances and music performances and traditional costumes. We will schedule your trip on such events in case you want to enjoy the rich culture of each country at its best.
